Avery's Ambulance Adventure!

Last night about 8:30pm, Avery was rushed by ambulance to Winthrop University Hospital's Pediatric Emergency Room. It all started when Avery vomited up her entire feeding and chocked on it. She could not breathe freely for several minutes and began to turn blue. Needless to say we were once again scared to death. This is the 3rd time this has happened to her since coming home from the NICU. We did everything we knew to do while waiting for the 911 to respond. As usual, they responded in amazing time and checked her out. She was breathing normally by the time they walked in the door but extremely pale in color with a tint of blue still around her mouth. They decided she needed to receive oxygen and be taken into the ER for further evaluation.
I rode along with her in the ambulance, and then Sterling met us there after getting Luis and Jessica to come over to watch Madison and Emma. She slept the entire ambulance ride while receiving oxygen. She had a small amount of fluid still sitting on top of her lungs, but the oxygen allowed her to cough it out. When we arrived at the hospital, she was immediately taken to a room in the pediatric ER. They hooked her up to wires, as shown in the photo, and observed her breathing for about an hour. She did great, and we were able to take her home about 10:30pm. She was all smiles to us while we waited in the room, and then sweetly went back to sleep. She is the sweetest baby. And once again, we were so grateful for the wonderful staff at Winthrop. Avery is experiencing the vomiting due to reflux. Emma had reflux as well, but she would projectile vomit, and so she never choked it on at all. But, the nurses said because Avery was premature, her muscles are quite strong enough to force the fluid out, so it ends up going out through her mouth and nose, causing her to choke. We are taking her to the Winthrop Pediatric GI doctor on Tuesday to further discuss how to manage her reflux, so hopefully this does not happen again. Please Please Please pray this does not happen to her again, and that the doctor will know exactly what she needs, and most importantly, pray for God's protection.
She went to her check up yesterday morning, and everything else is great! She weighs 10lbs 12 ounces. She is 21" long.

She doesn't know yet how much Poppy loves her! Thank goodness she knows how much her mom, dad and sisters do (Nana also)but most of all our God loved her, knew her and had a tatoo of her on him. Okay, so that's a very loose translation of "my name is written on His heart, my name is graven on His Hand".
Hopefully no more scares, but it is life and there are bumps in the road. The only 2 things we really need to know are that 1. Jesus loves me and 2. We're in His hand and he won't let us go.
Love
Poppy
